Small Organization, Big Effect

Xico has been serving the Valley of the Sun in one form or another for over 35 years. That’s a long time for a nonprofit organization. Especially a small organization. Most nonprofits either grow larger or go out of business after that length of time. Staying small gives us a lot of advantages including economic versatility, personal contact with artists and volunteers, and flexibility (when someone asks if we want to get in on a great program we’re ready to go Right Now! because we don’t have to consult twenty different departments on a project).

I don’t want to make it sound like we don’t have plans to grow because we do. I want to see Xico’s programs involve more artists, reach more audience members, and serve more of the community. But we know that growth has to be balanced against all the things that make us unique. In honor of those things, below is a slide show celebrating a little organization that does big things!

(if anyone has more pictures from Xico’s history, please please please share them with us!)
